Hen or stag party in the Gironde: 11 activities, a 2-night programme and a venue all to yourselves
Planning a hen party or a stag do in the Gironde and looking for something other than a bar crawl? The recipe is the same for both: varied activities, a close-knit group, and a beautiful natural setting to catch your breath between two highlights. In Sablons, between Libourne and Coutras, Domaine du Dahu awaits you by its lake. You are among yourselves, free to organise the weekend as you wish. Here are 11 activity ideas, a sample 2-night programme and everything you need to know to book.
A gîte and chalets for your group, a lake all to yourselves
The charming gîte (4 bedrooms, 6 people) is the group's living space: a large living room with wood stove, an open kitchen facing the lake, equipped for an improvised brunch or a gala dinner, and a covered terrace for a toast at sunset.
The five floating chalets (2 to 5 people each) house the rest of the gang, each pair with its own terrace on the water. Up to 18 people in total.
All around, a spring-fed 3-hectare private lake, with no public and no neighbours. Drinks with your feet in the grass, a morning of fishing, herons and deer at dusk — and at night, a starry sky far from any light pollution.
11 activity ideas for a hen or stag party
1. Catch-and-release fishing on a private lake
Surprisingly bonding, for a hen party as much as a stag do. Here you fish without a licence, catch and release only: pike, zander, black bass and carp. No need to be an expert — patience, laughter and the pride of the first bite do the rest. Perfect for easing into the day. Details on the fishing page.
2. Paddleboarding and canoeing on the lake
Gliding across the water at sunrise, a friendly race, or simply drifting: everyone loves it and the photos are superb. The estate does not provide equipment: bring your own paddleboard or inflatable canoe. Life jackets compulsory, no swimming.
3. The Limnades wine workshop
20 minutes from Saint-Émilion, wine is unavoidable. From early November 2026, Limnades, the estate's restaurant, runs a fun on-site wine tasting workshop of about 2 hours with our sommelier (quiz, blind tasting, food and wine pairing, price on request) that gets the evening going. To go further, Château Pas de l'Âne offers a blindfolded tasting.
4. Laser tag or escape game in Libourne
20 minutes away, Vertigo Park for a shot of adrenaline (bride-to-be versus friends, groom-to-be versus mates), or Lib'Escape to rack your brains as a team. Then back to the calm of the lakeside.
5. A themed evening and games with your friends
The gîte and its covered terrace facing the lake are made for it: fancy dress, playlist, blind test, quiz about the bride or groom, secretly prepared challenges. With no neighbours overlooking, you turn the volume and the atmosphere up as you like.
6. A nature walk, on foot or by electric bike
Around the lake: herons, dragonflies, fish jumping at dusk — the ideal moment to unwind and share secrets. To explore the vineyards and the banks of the Dordogne, LOVELEC 33 bikes are delivered straight to the estate.
7. An evening under the stars
Far from any light pollution, the Gironde sky is exceptional. On the terrace of a floating chalet or by the water, you talk, laugh and let the party wind down gently. One of the simplest activities — and one of the most memorable.
8. A home cocktail workshop or a creative workshop
A cocktail workshop for everyone (each person makes and tastes their own creation), flower crowns or personalised accessories for a hen party. The gîte's equipped kitchen lends itself perfectly.
9. Massages, sound therapy and wellbeing
On request, masseuses come to the estate for relaxing massages, in the gîte or facing the lake. For hen parties, Charlotte (Naturelles by Charlotte) hosts a group sound bath with Tibetan bowls, gong and handpan plus guided meditation. And in Libourne, La Calinésie: hot baths, sauna and hammam, adults only.
10. A souvenir photo shoot by the water
Morning light on the lake, paddleboards in the background, group portraits at sunset on the floating chalet terraces: often the most treasured memory once the weekend is over.
11. A barbecue boat cruise at the Moulin de Porchères
15 minutes away, a doughnut-shaped electric boat, no licence needed, with a real barbecue in the middle: 2.5 hours on the Isle for around ten people (€39 per adult, food basket prepared by the guinguette). See the barbecue boat.
The ideal 2-night programme
A successful weekend alternates energy and relaxation: too much partying without a break and everyone ends up flat; too much calm and it gets boring. Here is a sample outline from Friday to Sunday, to adapt to the group:
| Friday afternoon | Arrival, settling into the gîte and the floating chalets, welcome drinks on the terrace facing the lake. |
| Friday evening | The Limnades wine workshop with our sommelier (on the dates offered), dinner cooked together in the gîte, then the evening's entertainment: "Discovery and pleasure" with Lety for a hen party, laser tag or a themed evening for a stag do. |
| Saturday morning | Waking up in peace, unhurried breakfast, massages for those who want them, a walk by the lake. |
| Saturday afternoon | Fishing session, paddleboard race, escape game in Libourne — or a wellbeing afternoon at La Calinésie. |
| Saturday evening | Barbecue boat or dinner at the estate, evening under the stars. |
| Sunday morning | Brunch by the water, photo shoot, last laughs before leaving. |
What is specific to the hen party… and to the stag do
For a hen party, the flagship entertainment is the fun "Discovery and pleasure" evening with Lety, intimacy adviser: a kind, funny evening that puts the bride-to-be in the spotlight without ever embarrassing her, around a selection of lingerie, accessories and sex toys chosen for quality rather than quantity. Lety also designs the discovery boxes of our Love Room; you can contact her directly.
To catch your breath between fits of laughter: massages, a sound bath with Charlotte, an afternoon at La Calinésie. A successful hen party also means leaving relaxed, not exhausted.
For a stag do, the adrenaline comes from laser tag or the escape game in Libourne and, for sporty groups, from the sport & nature "wild battle" hosted at the estate by coach Arnaud. A morning of fishing with mates, rod in hand, before a barbecue, remains one of the venue's great classics. Detailed programme for the lads: unforgettable stag do in the Gironde.
