Wine Tourism Stay in Gironde

Sleep on the water, fall for the wine — the perfect Bordeaux combo

The perfect match: lake and vineyards

The Domaine du Dahu is nestled in the heart of the Bordeaux Right Bank, at the crossroads of the region's most beautiful vineyards. Saint-Émilion (UNESCO), Pomerol and Fronsac are all around twenty minutes away: your floating chalet is the ideal base for a wine tourism stay.

In the morning, you fish for pike from your terrace. In the afternoon, you taste a legendary Pomerol at a wine château. In the evening, you watch the sun set over the lake, a glass of Saint-Émilion in hand. That is wine tourism, Dahu style.

No hotel on a retail park, no room by a busy road: you come back from the vines to a 3-hectare private lake lined with trees, where the chalets sit on the water with no facing neighbours. The calm after the tasting is part of the journey.

And for those who want to learn before setting off to the châteaux, wine also comes to the estate: from early November 2026, our restaurant Limnades runs a wine tasting workshop with our sommelier, to put words to what you taste and leave with useful reference points.

The Right Bank

Vineyards within reach of your chalet

Six destinations less than 25 minutes from the estate: enough to fill a long weekend without ever taking the same road twice.

  • Saint-Émilion · 20 min

A medieval village whose wine jurisdiction is a UNESCO World Heritage site: classified growths, cellars carved into the limestone and a monolithic church. The essential stop.

  • Pomerol · 20 min

A tiny, legendary appellation with no official classification, where Merlot reigns. Small plots, great wines and intimate tastings at family estates.

  • Fronsac and Canon-Fronsac · 20 min

Hillsides overlooking the Dordogne and the Isle, characterful wines at gentle prices and passionate winegrowers. The gem the Bordelais keep to themselves.

  • Lalande-de-Pomerol · 15 min

Pomerol's neighbour, just to the north, on the same gravels and grape varieties. A fine way into the Merlot of the Right Bank.

  • The Saint-Émilion satellites · 25 min

Montagne, Lussac, Puisseguin and Saint-Georges: quieter wine villages, châteaux that gladly open their doors, and affordable bottles.

  • Libourne · 20 min

The wine capital of the Right Bank, with its port on the Dordogne, its quays and its wine merchants. Its Sunday morning market is well known.

Our winegrower partners

We work with family estates that share our values: authenticity, a warm welcome and love of the product. We can arrange private visits and tailor-made tastings during your stay — just mention it when you book.

Small estates where the winegrower welcomes you in person, or classified growths for an exceptional visit: tell us what appeals to you and we will prepare your programme.

When to come

Wine tourism in Gironde, season by season

The estate is open all year round: each season gives the vineyards a different colour.

  • In spring

The vines are budding, the châteaux are still quiet and visits are easy to book. Evenings by the lake grow longer.

  • In summer

Long days to fit in two visits, drinks on the chalet terrace at sunset, catch-and-release fishing at dawn.

  • At harvest time

From September to early October the vineyards come alive: the liveliest time of year, to book early.

  • In winter

Visits are calm, by appointment. Heated chalets, a wood stove in the gîte, and, from early November 2026, the workshops of our restaurant Limnades, mainly on Sundays.

Our tips for a successful vineyard stay

  • Book your visits Many châteaux only receive visitors by appointment, especially in Pomerol and at harvest time.
  • Two visits a day, no more One in the morning and one in the early afternoon: beyond that, the wines blur together and you enjoy them less.
  • Plan the way back A designated driver, a taxi, a driver for the day or LOVELEC 33 electric bikes delivered to the estate.
  • Spit without embarrassment It is standard practice at tastings, even at the greatest estates: you taste better and for longer.
  • Leave some room For cases of wine: many estates also offer shipping to your home.

The Dahu wine tourism package
